After the success of my Tierney jacket design a couple of years ago, I decided to use the same horizontal rib stitch for a new jacket design. What I love about this simple stitch, is that it adds structure to a garment, but is also very flexible.
The yarn chosen by Kirstie McLeod (commissioning editor at The Knitter) for the sample is a gorgeous wool and alpaca mix DK yarn from UK Alpaca This gives the high collar a luxurious feel. The jacket could be worn under a loose winter coat, wearing the collar buttoned instead of a scarf. Or the jacket can be worn over a dress for comfy layering.
Once again, the jacket has been given a name by the magazine, and although I live in London, Hampton Hill is west and I am south-east, so I am not familiar with it. However, I know it is a lovely area.
