Butterfly Shrug
After designing Butterfly Dress I decided it would be good to design a short-sleeved version, but then I hit upon the idea of designing a matching shrug which could be worn with the dress – or with another garment! Perhaps a strapless wedding dress? Knitted in a pale ivory with small crystal beads it would look really special.
The shrug uses the same simple lace pattern as the dress and has beads knitted into the stitch and placed randomly over the garment.
Yarn: The shrug is knitted in Rowan Kidsilk Haze which is ideal for a lightweight lacey stitch. I’ve used small 3mm glass seed beads.
Sizes & yarn quantities: The pattern takes 1 x 25g ball Rowan Kidsilk Haze and should fit most sizes (extra rows can be knitted for larger sizes)
Tension: 17sts and 24 rows to 4″ (10cms) measured over lace pattern using 5mm (US8) needles.
Needles etc: Pair each of 3.75mm (US 5) and 5mm (US 8) needles
