This cute cropped cardi is great for layering to add warmth in winter.

The design uses a very simple stitch pattern in stripes, with a panel of an easy-to-work lace down the back and sleeves giving an unusual and striking effect.

Yarn: The cardi is knitted using West Yorkshire Spinners Croft Aran weight wool, a gorgeous, soft 100% wool, 166m/181yds per 100g skein.

Sizes & yarn quantities: The pattern gives instructions for sizes 32-50 ins/81-127 cm, using between 6-8 skeins.

Tension: 18 sts & 24 rows to 10 cm over stocking stitch using 5mm knitting needles

Needles etc: A pair 4.5mm (UK 7/US 7) knitting needles; a pair 5mm (UK 6/US 8) knitting needles; a 4.5 (UK 7/US 7) circular needle 80cm long

Removable stitch markers, stitch holders, 3 x 35mm buttons
